Hunter x Hunter

Hunter x Hunter begins with Gon Freecss living with his aunt Mito on Whale Island. He discovers his father Ging is alive and a legendary Hunter who left Gon to pursue his own career. Determined to find Ging, Gon takes the Hunter Exam, which nearly kills multiple candidates. He befriends Killua Zoldyck, an assassin heir; Kurapica, a boy seeking revenge against the Phantom Troupe; and Leorio, a medical student. Gon passes and begins his journey. The Zoldyck Family arc reveals Killua's dark assassin upbringing and his eventual departure from the family. The Heavens Arena arc introduces Nen, a system of life energy that elevates combat to new levels. The Yorknew City arc features the Phantom Troupe's heist and Kurapica's confrontation with them. Greed Island is a game world created by Ging containing rare Nen abilities. The Chimera Ant arc is the series' darkest: the Ants hybridize with humans and other species, producing the formidable King Meruem. Despite Netero's efforts, the King survives and battles Gon. After a poisoning confrontation, Gon makes a deal with the Dark Continent's power, sacrificing his future to defeat Pitou. The Election arc resolves the aftermath, with Gon recovered and Killua leaving with his sister Alluka, while Gon finally reunites with Ging.
