During the Chuunin Exams, genin are challenged by a unique test designed by Shikamaru that requires teamwork and careful deduction, as they work together to solve the puzzle and advance.
All the arriving genin wait in line for the first part of the exams. Konohamaru, disappointed that Naruto would not be attending the latest Chuunin Exams and in fear this may result in him never becoming a chuunin, disguises himself as the latter to participate, but is exposed and consoled by Neji. All the participating genin are placed in three separate rooms to take the test, which was concocted by Shikamaru. Should any of them get a score higher or below the total score of 100, they fail the test. The genin of each room try to deduce Shikamaru's test, and as they do, Sakura and Neji coming to the conclusion that all members of each team must equal the required score to pass. With that, Neji starts walking around the room, catching the others' attention.
