"Luffy's Peak: Attained! Gear Five" is episode 1071 of One Piece.
Luffy achieves a powerful new transformation that amplifies his abilities and signals a turning point in his battle. Meanwhile, tensions rise as key figures reflect on past sacrifices and face new threats amid a climactic fight with an overwhelming foe.
Zunesha reveals to Momonosuke and Yamato that Joy Boy has returned. On the top of the Skull Dome, Luffy finishes his transformation, having fully awakened his Devil Fruit maximum power. His hair becomes flame-like and white as does his clothes (save for his hat, sandals and sash around his waste), while his eyebrows become swirled and billowing and his irises turn pink with a scarf of clods floating above his shoulders as the ground he walks becomes like rubber as he becomes incredibly joyful. The transformation alerts the others who're overjoyed that Luffy is still alive. Meanwhile, the Five Elders at Mariejois discuss having sacrificed one of their top agents in an attempt to stop Luffy. Being particularly concerned with the potency of the Gum-Gum Fruit, the World Government had been trying for 800 years to attain it, but to no avail, almost as if the fruit were evading them. One of the Elders mentions Zoan fruits can have wills of their own as it's revealed that the Gum-Gum Fruit is actually the Mythical Zoan Type Human-Human Fruit Model: Nika. The user, upon awakening their fruit, becomes the legendary "Sun God" Nika, having the power and freedom only limited by the user's imagination, as they declare the Devil Fruit to be the most ridiculously powerful thing in the world. Meanwhile, in the treasure repository, Orochi attempts to cajole Hiyori into removing his Seastone nail and setting him free. However, following his numerous betrayals and wrongdoings against Kouzuki Oden and the people of Wano Country during his reign, Hiyori angrily refuses. Kazenbo, who had been reduced to a small wisp by the armory explosion, appears, returning to its master. Orochi commands Kazenbo to burn Hiyori alive. However, Kazenbo does not listen, instead setting Orochi aflame as he remains trapped under the rubble. On the rooftop, Luffy says he can keep fighting longer now, and declares his new form to be his peak, dubbing it "Fifth Gear". Having fully recovered, Luffy emits extremely powerful Conqueror's Haki, which reaches the Beasts Pirates on the Performance Floor below. He grabs Kaido's dragon body and drags it back above the rooftop, beating him upon the rooftop with little resistance using. Kaido fires a Blast Breath at Luffy, but Luffy blocks the fireball by pulling up on the ground. The fireball bounces off the wall and strikes Kaido. Despite being unable to hit Luffy, Kaido expresses relief that Luffy was alive, apologizing for CP0 sabotaging their fight. Luffy accepts his apology and prepares to finish his final fight with him.
